Our Story

Northartcraft.com began as a group of three, studying the Masters in Creative Practice at Harrogate College. Two ceramicists and a paper cutter, all mature students coming from diverse careers, all from the ‘caring’ professions. We banded together like ‘The Three Musketeers’.

Our first commercial project was to have been The Makers Market, an event over two days in Tockwith. We invited three other artists to join us, all of whom are established in their fields, a printer, a willow weaver and a spinner. It was wonderful to have their support, knowledge and skill joining ours.

We’ve come a long way in such a short time and, whilst we were dispirited by the necessary cancellation of the Makers Market during the United Kingdom’s lock-down, we are not being kept down for long. We decided to move the market to a virtual platform and this new website is proof of our irrepressible creative spirit that we'd like to share with you.

We think it's wonderfully diverse in its offer and by bringing together a mix of creative makers, we hope to provide a variety of heritage crafts as well as specially selected innovative new works.

This has already been a fantastic journey and we are at the start of some great friendships. Everyone has been very generous with their time and effort and we are learning so much from each other. We hope you enjoy our creative products as much as we have enjoyed making them.
